Organic Genmaicha is a high-quality sencha green tea combined with roasted rice grains ('genmai'). The rice is specially soaked and steamed before being dried and roasted. The infusion of sencha leaves and rice creates a characteristic refreshing, subtly nutty flavour, a strong aroma, and a reddish-green colour. For centuries, Genmaicha tea was considered a drink for the poorest people in Japan, but over time it became popular across all social strata, earning the nickname 'popcorn tea'. In Japan, monks often drink it during long fasting periods. With a relatively low sencha content (50%), this tea offers a moderate caffeine level. It is valued for its high mineral content (magnesium, calcium, and potassium) and its digestive support properties, which is why it is traditionally served with meals.
Usage
Tea quantity: 3 g per 250 ml. Brewing time: 2-3 min. Brewing temperature: 70-80 °C.
