Chasen - bamboo whisk for Matcha 48 g – Matcha Magic
Product description
The traditional whisk, known as a chasen, is used for frothing matcha tea during the Japanese tea ceremony. Handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo, it features precisely cut, flexible bristles. The lower part of the bristles is gently curved, while the upper part is gathered and finished with a wooden handle. The chasen works best with a bowl that has vertical sides and a wide bottom, which facilitates whisking matcha. It is important that the water temperature does not exceed 80°C. For best results, the whisk should be moistened in hot water before use and rinsed afterwards. Bamboo contracts as it dries, becoming brittle and prone to damage.
Usage
Begin whisking matcha slowly, gently brushing the chasen's bristles along the bottom of the bowl to thoroughly mix the matcha with water. Then, move the chasen higher, closer to the surface, and perform energetic W or M-shaped movements for approximately 10-20 seconds. Work with your wrist only, not your entire arm. A thin layer of foam, often referred to as 'jade froth', will quickly appear on the surface. The large number of flexible bamboo bristles facilitates perfect frothing of the tea.
