Made with 50 g of fruit per 100 g of product
Black currants have a lot of natural pectin, which makes the jam from these fruits one of the denser ones. When opening the jar, we have the impression that its contents can be cut with a knife - however, it is enough to stir the jam with a spoon to get a more loose consistency. A touch of glucose syrup protects the jam from saccharification. Following the advice from Maria Ochorowicz Monatova's cookbook from the early 20th century, we add a little of this syrup to the jam.
Black currant jam can be served as an addition to cottage cheese, yogurt, porridge, pancakes, pancakes, crumpets, omelets, filling for shortcrust, French and yeast cakes.
